Matías Palou is a young pianist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Passionate about 20th and 21st-century music, he includes in his repertoire both classical and lesser-known composers, with a particular emphasis on French music.
He has performed in significant venues in Argentina, France, and Belgium, such as Salle Cortot, Teatro Colón, Maison de la Culture du Japon, and Usina del Arte, among others. Matías Palou has been invited to festivals like Terre de Paroles, Festival International Albert Roussell, and Festival Internacional Encuentros.
As a soloist, he has collaborated with the Colon Theater’s Academic Orchestra and with the Lanús National University Orchestra. He has also participated in concerts with various ensembles and has been hired by the Teatro Colón as a repertorist in the preparation of operas.
He was the recipient of scholarships from the 'Encuentros / Damus-UNA Foundation' and the 'Albert Roussel' scholarship sponsored by Fondation des Beaux-Arts, enabling him to pursue a specialization in French music with Françoise Thinat at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. He was also awarded a scholarship to participate in the Académie de Musique Française, a series of masterclasses directed by Jean-Philippe Collard, where he received guidance from renowned pianists such as Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Michel Beroff, Philippe Entremont, Claire-Marie Le Guay, among others.
In addition to his concert activities, Matías Palou currently serves as a pianist at the National University of the Arts and the Conservatorio Superior de Música 'Manuel de Falla' in Buenos Aires.
